Managerial Thinking and Decision-Making

The supportive methods for managerial decision-making provide the opportunity to build a competitive advantage. Their appropriate use has the potential to outperform competitors and successfully drive a business forward. The aim of the course is to familiarise the participants with the soft and hard methods related to managerial thinking and decision-making. This goal will be achieved by solving a problem-oriented case study using various management methods and techniques and software tools such as MS Excel and Lumina Analytica.

Key Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to analyse problem-oriented assignments on the basis of information obtained in the preparation phase. They will be able to break down problem-solving processes into five main steps and apply appropriate management methods in each of the following steps:

  1. problem situation analysis,
  2. problem clarification; problem causers,
  3. generating and classifying possible solutions,
  4. selecting the most suitable solution and
  5. implementing the solution.

They will also be able to utilize modern software tools in the process of decision-making and its presentation.
